About Kate Harvi's Practice
Embodiment, Collective Liberation, Authenticity, Relationships, Queer Affirming, Sexuality, Gender Exploration, Childhood Trauma, Recovering from Narcissistic Abuse, Postpartum, Poly, Kink, Sex +, Psychedelic Integration. I am a fiercely compassionate and direct advocate. I will be challenging while practicing deep reverence and empathy for our unique precious human experiences. I am a Queer person, in an interracial partnership, I am a mother of two, a dancer, a traveller and really fucking existential.
Life is a wild ride. There are so many conflicting feelings, beliefs and stories that we tell ourselves and that are told to us. Navigating the systems of the external world along with our internal and relational worlds is often overwhelming, exhausting and painful. Relating spaciously and curiously with differing parts of self and excavating old narratives can help in honoring all of who we are and invite permission to create and relate in new ways.
I believe in the power of compassion, creativity and mindfulness via listening to and learning about our nervous systems (aka our bodies' responses). Creating space from the spinning thoughts and bringing attention to what our whole beings are experiencing in the moment can create awareness, then choice, then transformation on a fundamental level.
Building empathy and compassion for ourselves is not some cliche bullshit, it is a vital skill that needs nurturing and cultivating, and it is also not a pass to avoid taking responsibility for our actions. I believe in the potential of the therapeutic process. Everyone deserves time and space to explore who they are and relate intimately with their world.
Values and Approach
I believe in Collective Liberation, radical Self Nurturance, expanding our ability to be with the raw human experience of colorful emotions and responses to the world, gender abolitionism, community care, learning the vocabulary of bodies responses.
I believe that anxiety and depression are responses to the world and responses to our experiences as tender humans within an uncertain, confusing, inspiring and suffering society. We will focus less on optimization for self improvement but rather expanding oneself to be more spacious, nurturing, curious and flexible. Being flexible with our responses to emotions and our responses to reactions to the world we can gain more choice in how to respond to ourselves and people and the environment around us.
